The Golden Circle
- including lunch at Friðheimar

We begin today’s journey with a visit to Þingvellir National Park, where Iceland’s history and geology merge. After experiencing the unique rifts and historical atmosphere, we continue to Friðheimar, a greenhouse famous for its geothermally heated structures. Here, we enjoy a delicious lunch among the tomato plants. Next, we head to Gullfoss, where the mighty waterfall crashes into deep canyons, and finally, we visit Haukadalur, home to the active geyser Strokkur, which shoots water high into the air.

„Góðan daginn“ – Today’s journey begins with a visit to the country’s most popular attractions. Þingvellir National Park impresses with its historical and geological significance. It was here that the world’s first parliament, Alþingi, was founded in 930. Geologically, the park is situated at the meeting point of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, which are slowly drifting apart, creating dramatic fissures and rifts in the landscape.

After our visit to Þingvellir, we continue our journey through the beautiful landscape. We pass by Laugarvatn, a small town on the shores of Lake Laugarvatn. The town is known for its natural hot springs and has a long history as a popular spot for relaxation and wellness.

We then proceed to Friðheimar, a unique Icelandic greenhouse famous for its tomatoes grown in geothermally heated greenhouses.

Here, we will enjoy a delicious lunch amidst the greenery. The lunch includes freshly made tomato soup served with homemade bread, all made with tomatoes straight from the greenhouses.

The surroundings are truly special, as we dine among lush plants, providing an authentic and sustainable experience of Icelandic agriculture.

The next stop is the famous geothermal area of Haukadalur, a must-see on any trip to Iceland. Here, we witness the spectacular geyser Strokkur, which regularly shoots a water jet 25 to 30 meters into the air.

Nearby is Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls. With immense power, the waters of the „golden“ waterfall cascade in several stages into a deep canyon.

After enjoying the impressive Gullfoss, we begin our journey back towards Reykjavík. The trip takes us through Iceland’s diverse landscape, first passing the vast highland plains. As we head south, we follow the route along the Hvítá River, enjoying views of dramatic canyons and small streams.

We arrive in Reykjavík in the late afternoon, where the city’s vibrant life and architecture provide a sharp contrast to the day’s natural wonders.

Explore Iceland's South Coast
- from Reykjavík to Vík and back

We start in Reykjavík and drive along the south coast with the first stop in Hvolsvöllur. We visit Skógafoss, continue to the Sólheimajökull glacier, and explore Reynisfjara in Vík. On the way back, we stop at Seljalandsfoss, where we can walk behind the waterfall before ending the day in Reykjavík.

„Velkomin á fætur“ – We leave Reykjavík and begin our journey along Iceland’s south coast. After a short stop in the small town of Hvolsvöllur, where we can stretch our legs and enjoy the view of the Icelandic landscape, we continue towards Skógafoss.

Skógafoss is one of Iceland’s most impressive waterfalls, with a powerful 60-meter drop where the water cascades into a wide river, surrounded by lush nature. Here, we have time to enjoy the waterfall up close before continuing our journey.

The next stop is the famous black sand beach, Reynisfjara. Here, you can experience the impressive basalt columns and the distinctive rock formations, Reynisdrangar, which rise dramatically from the sea. It’s an ideal spot to enjoy the beauty of nature and capture stunning photographs.

We continue towards the charming village of Vík, Iceland’s southernmost town, famous for its church on the hill and the picturesque view over the coast. This is a great place for a break, where you can also purchase local handicrafts.

After some time in Vík, we leisurely head back to Reykjavík. We stop at the Sólheimajökull glacier, where you have the opportunity to take a short glacier hike. This gives you the chance to experience one of Europe’s largest glaciers up close and truly feel the power of nature.

We visit the magical Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can walk behind the waterfall for a unique experience of the water’s power and the force of nature.

We end the day in Reykjavík, where there is an opportunity for networking activities. By prior arrangement you can meet Icelandic people, exchange experiences, and participate in shared networking activities.
